DVD Movie Maker Does Not Work On Windows Vista? Every time I try to add something to the windows dvd movie maker it shuts down. I have tried to restore the computer but this did not work I worked at it for some time it says that ep protections is stopping it from working but when I tried to shut it down it would not let me is there anybody out ever had this problem???

Which free DVD movie maker software would you suggest I download for making home movies into DVD's? I have a Kodak Easy Share Camera in which I have many home movies of my kids in sports and what not that I really want to burn onto a DVD that will play in my DVD player. I just bought a new DVD writer and a new DVD player that is suppose to play these types of discs. I'm having trouble writing them to a disc and if I do get it to write to a disc, it won't play on my DVD player. I've tried Memorex brand DVD+RW with 4X speed and it wouldn't even write to it. Says it needs to be a slower burn speed. Then I also tried the Memorex brand DVD+R with a 16X speed, in which, I finally got it to write the videos onto the disc, but it still fails to play in my DVD player. I bought, yet, more DVD's of a different brand, Sony, that I have yet to try. They are DVD+R with a 1-16X speed. I have talked to a few people about this problem and they mentioned needing a DVD movie maker program in which will encode the disc making it compatible to play on my DVD player. They also said there are several free one's to choose from to download. There are so many to choose from and wondered if anyone had any clue which were best. Any suggestions or advice? None of this makes a whole lot of sense to me as I am somewhat technologically challenged. If you are more computer literate about this sort of thing and can help me out please do so by replying. Please also include what to do once I have downloaded the software. Thank you!!!

RavenPerchUndergorund replied: "The thing is, you simply cannot write things to a dvd and expect them to play it. dvd's work with guidelines and these are the formats that it can play. you need to download software that can make a dvd video movie, and this does not just burn movies to a disc but it converts them into a format that the dvd can understand. firstly get this software and install it after installing, run the program, there may be windows telling you to install codecs. respond to these politively be downloading and installing them. these will help you create the dvd. now, in the main screen add your video files. in the video settings box, select your region settings based on where you bought your dvd player. and the only other thing you need to do is, switch aspect ratio to 16:9 if you have a lcd widescreen tv. if not, click on next. in the menu items box, you can edit you dvd menu., chene the background picture or change the title. explore the other features if you want to. then go to next here insert the blank sony dvd and select your dvd writer, if you have 2 disc drives, select the drive with the one with the disc in. then hit start burning. the process will take at minimum 1hrs 30 mins on a normal pc. when done, put the dvd in the dvd player and play! remember this is very basic software and if you want to create more professional dvd's you can buy better software."

dvd movie maker on windows (vista ) music problem? i make a dvd movie from pctures and add music but the music always stutters when there is a transistion between pictures am i doing something wrong or is this a common problem is there a way to stop it happening

Slothman replied: "Sounds like your computer can't cope... It can't process both a transition and music at the same time. That would be pretty pathetic... but that's what it sounds like. When you burn it to dvd and play it in the dvd player it should be fine."

What I do is drag drop movie files from DVD folder from dvd drive, into new folder on desktop, then open the files using Nero vision 5 to create youtube videos. If the movie is copyright protected, I use DVD decrypter to remove protection. You can find all the answers you need at this website, check out the how to section, they also have a forum you can post questions. DVD file formats are not compatible with wmm, unless you convert the dvd files to avi. If you have any question, you can email me."
